Nom nom goodies for ze eyeballs!
After going for a blast up to Kapiti on the motorbike, and baking goodies and myself on the roof, I was off to get some fresh air, and to see really what was up behind my apartment building. I wanted to nosey investigate a very beautiful new house that I have been watching being built on the Mt Victoria ridgeline too. So, the Mt Victoria walkway got a good tramp over in a beautiful summers day.
Ain't this the truth!
These little things have been given to me over the last few weeks and I think they are worth a good ol' share..
“When up looks up, up is down.
When down looks down, down is up.
Not-one, not-two. Not same. Not different
Now do you see?”
“Wear sunscreen.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience...
I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked...
You’re not as fat as you Imagine.
Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind.
The kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
Do one thing everyday that scares you.
Sing.
Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Floss.
Don’t waste your time on jealousy;
Sometimes you’re ahead,
Sometimes You’re behind.
The race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.
Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults;
If you Succeed in doing this, tell me how.
Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.
S t r e tch.
Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your
Life.
The most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.
Get plenty of calcium.
Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary.
Whatever you do, don’t Congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either.
Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, Use it every way you can... Don’t be afraid of it, or what other people Think of it,
It’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own...
Dance... even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.
Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.
Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.
Brother and sister together we’ll make it through
Someday your spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you’ve been hurting, but I’ve been waiting to be there
For you.
And I’ll be there, just tell me now, whenever I can.
Everybody’s free.
Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.
Be nice to your siblings;
They are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard;
Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will Philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don’t expect anyone else to support you.
Maybe you have a trust fund, Maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.
Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you’re 40, it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen...”
Tilda Swinton is the epitome of cool. She reigns supreme as my numero uno idol.
'Only Lovers Left Alive' by Jim Jarmusch is the coolest film I have seen in months. It has enviable music, unique aesthetic, the timing and the pace right on the nose and swaaaager. I'm a little in love.
'Dream Fucking BIG' - guash, ink, felt & GLITTER. It's now hanging in 5 Boroughs on the Corner of Roxburgh & Majoribanks, Mt. Victoria.
Elie from 5 Boroughs brought back maps from New York and gave one to me to go nuts on as he wanted something colour PoPPin
This is what I brought back to him ^=^

I am very excited to announce that 'MOXIE .:':. JAPAN' has launched!
Compiling this project over the last year and half has been an amazing experience in itself and tonight it is now live to the world.
'MOXIE .:':. JAPAN' is a crowd funding project which enables me to sell my art internationally while raising funds to travel to Japan and Canada in 2015. It runs for 60 days and will wrap up on the 18th of December.
My campaign promotes funding your dreams by being entrepreneurial and thinking outside the box. I am inspiring and encouraging people to truly do what you love and live life without regrets.
I believe my campaign has merit to be funded because I have fantastic art to trade. I am sharing my experiences and because hard work pays off :)
PLUS everyone needs beautiful things in their lives and art makes the world a richer more colourful and diverse place to be a part of!
Recently, while at the summit of Mt Ruapehu, I decided in order to travel with true wanderlust I needed to commit EVERYTHING. I have resigned from my role as Manager at Workshop, packed up my studio, cleared out my house and begun minimising my worldly possessions.
I have always been driven in the pursuit of acquiring new points of view and achievements. My academic abilities allowed me to begin attending university at 16, I began freelance designing at 19 and have learnt many skills and activities along the way. I have been very fortunate to have opportunities to experience & have made it a life pursuit to NOT have a list to work through of things I wish I had done!
Six years ago I hit a horrific event, which although at the time was traumatising, became the instigator of refocusing myself on the goals and steps I needed to undertake to achieve my bigger dreams. It has not been a short or easy road to get where I now stand- but boy!- I am proud of getting here, and what a ride it has been so far!
This project is centred around growth for all involved; experience, inspiration, adventure and making new connections that begin exciting opportunities. I am embarking on another passage of an incredibly rich and dynamic life that I'm set on sharing through art and participation.
I invite you to have a look at what I have been up to!
If you feel inclined to support financially I am honoured and grateful.
If you like what I am doing, just by forwarding the project on to your networks you will be helping in a way more than money can buy :)
Moena Moxham art for sale is listed as a 'Perk' or contributions of any denomination can be made.
I am always interested in collaborations and commissions- if you would like something tailor made for you I love exploring ideas; please feel free to drop me a line.

Steph Lusted is one of the most hard working and talented artists I know.
I have followed her work since I was a teenager and have recently had the pleasure to be able to say that one of my idols has become a friend.
Steph’s work transcends the boundaries of normal jewelry and adornment. I love the way she mixes and juxtaposes themes and traditions to create thought provoking, yet still beautiful pieces.
Her execution and skill is meticulous as well as broad. Pieces are completely thought through, not only in themselves but also in their presentation and packaging.
I first came across Steph’s resin encased insects in the ‘Crème de la Crème’ series and was fascinated by them. I enjoyed how the black, graphic butterflies we framed in sugar coated colored frames- like a Nana had snuck into the museum drawers, stolen her favorites and ‘prettied them up’ so she could wear them on her shawl. The subject matter is arresting; out of kilter a notch and a little left of center- just how I like my art!
‘Ama Vitam’ (Dutch for ‘Love Life’) is out of this world. I used to visit Avid gallery often in Wellington to marvel at this incredible work.
Below is a selection of my favorite’s- although there isn’t one thing Steph has created which isn’t fantastic!
'Ama Vitam'
'The Green Fairy'
Absinthe has been an inspiration for artists throughout history from Vincent van Gogh to Oscar Wilde.
This alchoholic delicacy historically contained the herb Artemisia absinthium (Wormwood),
often connected to dark imagery, or visions out of the ordinary.
I am intrigued by rituals associated with objects, jewellery or otherwise.
These objects have significant sentimental value which comes from playing a part in a ceremony.
'Medical Implements'
'Creme de la Creme'
'Bittersweet'
I was tickled pink to be invited to attend last nights performance from the NZSO. I played the violin for many years and it was so delightful to be immersed in the elegant world of classical music again.
To have the pleasure to see Hakan Hardenberger perform was stunning.
The showcase was a cosmic, orbital experience and transported me to a different plane for a few hours..
JANÁCEK Sinfonietta
DEAN Trumpet Concerto Dramatis Personae
MUSSORGSKY (arr. RAVEL) Pictures at an Exhibition
DIMA SLOBODENIOUK conductor
HÅKAN HARDENBERGER trumpet
Brass was the star when the NZSO joined forces with the world’s greatest living trumpet soloist Håkan Hardenberger for Bold Worlds.
Famous for his charisma, swagger and skill, Hardenberger can make the trumpet sing like a human voice. No wonder he performs with the most prestigious international orchestras and was declared “the best trumpet player in the galaxy” by The Times.
The Trumpet Concerto Dramatis Personae by Brett Dean, which styles the trumpeter as a superhero, was unique and fascinating. Written for him, it showcases Hardenberger at his unrivalled best.
Janáček’s rousing Sinfonietta, an irresistible explosion of colour that crackles with invention and surprise was the icing on the cake of an audio experience to remember.

With 258 rides across 57 countries the aim is to raise money to find a cure for Prostate Cancer. Last year was super fun for a super cause, and although Saturday was smaller due to the ride being postponed the week prior; it was big on charm and enjoyment!
This year the target was to raise $1,000,000 - so far it's exceeded that and is at $1,471,814!

Mischief in all forms & ages hehe!
Who let this bearded man loose, God only knows! ^+^
Yours truly ^-*
Dapper Gentlemen!
Today's little adventure saw me take the Triumph for a hoon over to Eastborne and for a hike to Butterfly Creek for lunch. Was a stunning windy Spring Welly day, with butterflies and birds a plenty; nestled away from the gusts in the bush was the perfect escape ^+^
Looking from Muritai/ Eastborne back to Wellington
Recently I was encouraged to try Xtend Barre Pilates- a mix of Pilates, dance and resistance training and I am HOOKED! It's athletic, fun and seriously challenging!!
I have a pre existing back injury from fracturing vertebrae and my tailbone and initially began practising yoga & Pilates to manage this. Yoga became so much more than just the activity for me, but I hadn't quite gelled with Pilates... until I found Xtend. There are locations around the world- but I gotta say, the ladies and gentleman at the Wellington studio are fannnntastic!
I was sparking tonight after having the pleasure to see Spoek Mathambo's Future Sound of Mzansi; a documentary film addressing the changing cultural landscape of South Africa through its electronic-music scene.
Directors Lebogang Rasethaba and rapper Spoek Mathambo travelled around South Africa to explore and capture the rich electronic music scene and the strong movement of producers, instrumentalists, vocalists and party goers.
Seriously inspirational stuff!
DOPE and most definitely worth having a geez!
Not long now until my Indiegogo project launches Amigos!... But in the mean time- just to get you prepared South Park gives us a lesson on crowd-funding...
& just cos aint this the truth!! LOL... (Eddie Izzard for President please)...
Wellington's highest point was the lunch stop for today. Perfect spot for plotting future plans, spring cleansing and getting the hair blown back and the worries away.
After only taking 32mins up, I decided to keep goin further into Makara.
Soo next?.....Tararuas?
The bronze sundial at the summit is pretty cool- it gives your directions and distances to nearby landmarks.
Left to the South Island and right, back to Mt Kaukau ^=^
...and back over Wellington City
